Ok, with the onset of Winter and it’s typical Downsides, I thought I would share a few recipes to deal with cold related issues:
Honey & Cinnamon ; 1/4 Tsp + 1 Tsp Local/raw Honey taken twice a day for 2 or 3 days to cure a Cold.
2 Drops Lemon juice in cup of regularly brewed earl grey tea to relieve symptoms to relieve a sore throat, when used sparingly it will aid in the temporary restoration of a voice-box from laryngitis.
Ginger, 1 teaspoon, cooked in with veggies such as broccoli, Bok Choy, and Carrots as part of a Stir-fry will help to clear up Winter Allergies as the Ginger acts as an anti-histamine.
Green Tea, and Chamomile Teas are good as also strong anti-histamines. You can increase effectiveness by sweetening with natural/local honey as honey is both an anti-inflammatory as well as an antibacterial.
so, cook with a lot of greens, and keep drinking green tea sweetened with Honey and flavoured with a drop or two of lemon and you should be able to weather the Winter without much effort.. this of course provides that you can withstand a steady diet of such. so perhaps bolstering with a one a day vitamin so you can vary the diet a bit might be a good idea!
Here's to hoping this helps out, yet please note, i am not a medical professional so seeking their advice if you are feeling sick would be very wise. And if you have something you'd like me to add to this list, be it for Winter, Fall, Spring, or Summer, please drop me a line and I will add it in.
